The Ohio Medieval Colloquium is an informal association of medievalists throughout the state. There are, as our founder John B. Friedman likes to say, no dues and no constitution. Even the membership is virtual, consisting of an email list passed from one chair to the next. If you would like to join, all you have to do is send your email to either of the current chairs:

Richard Firth Green at Ohio State (green.693@osu.edu)
Xenia Bonch-Bruevich at Wright State University (xenia.bonch@wright.edu)

(Though Xenia is just finishing up her term as chair and is due to be replaced at our fall meeting, either of us would be glad to add your name to the list.)

The Ohio Medieval Colloquium holds two one-day meetings a year, the Spring Meeting is traditionally held in the Columbus area and the Fall Meeting somewhere on the periphery of the state (for a record of our recent meeting see the side-bar on this site). Meetings generally begin in late morning and end in the late afternoon to enable those with a long drive ahead of them to get home; those who can stay later are welcome to gather for a congenial dinner at a local restaurant. Calls for papers generally go out some six weeks or so before each meeting and papers on any aspect of medieval history or culture are welcome.

The Fall 2009 Meeting will be at Bowling Green University, hosted by Erin Felicia Labbie (labbie@bgsu.edu), and the Spring 2010 Meeting at Ohio Wesleyan, hosted by Patricia DeMarco (pademarc@owu.edu). If you would like host a future meeting please contact one of the chairs; all that will be required of you is to provide a room and some sandwiches for lunch, together with the task of choosing the papers for the program and a restaurant for the evening gathering.
