The Vagantes Planning Committee would like to thank all of the attendees and particularly the keynote speakers, Elaine Treharne and Barbara A. Hanawalt, for a very successful conference! We were honored to host it at The Ohio State University. Next year's host, of course, is Florida State University, and we're very much looking forward to what promises to be excellent (and warmer) conference. The CFP will be coming out in the summer most likely. Please see www.fsu.edu/~arh/pages/graduate/medieval.shtml for the FSU Vagantes webpage.
We are pleased to announce that we were inundated with abstracts and we hope that we have chosen a strong and representative portion. To the best of our knowledge, this year was the most competitive yet for Vagantes. We will have thirty-eight graduate student presentations and two keynotes, by Elaine Treharne and Barbara Hanawalt.
Vagantes 2008 will offer a number of opportunities for those attending. Beyond our strong series of presentations and keynotes, Thursday night will be host to a Welcome Reception at Surly Girls Saloon in Columbus; Friday night will see the Faculty Reception at the campus Faculty Club, where we will hear an selection of medieval music by the Early Interval Group; and Saturday night will, of course, be devoted to the traditional banquet, following Elaine Treharne's keynote at the Blackwell Hotel.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to The Ohio State University and to Columbus!
