William Shakespeare’s Sir John Falstaff and the Merry Wives of Windsor will be running at the Columbus Performing Arts Center (549 Franklin Ave, Columbus) from April 4th-7th, performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night.
This April, Lord Denney’s is excited to premier Sir John Falstaff and the Merry Wives of Windsor. Many are familiar with The Merry Wives of Windsor, the comedy based on the 1623 version from Shakespeare’s first folio, however, our performance is adapted from an earlier and shorter version of the play that has not performed since the early seventeenth century. Though this shorter version has long been derided as being inferior, our research demonstrates that this so-called "bad quarto" is actually faster and funnier than its later draft, and in producing the first full performance of this early text for students and scholars to study, Lord Denney’s Players is making a lasting contribution to Shakespeare scholarship.
