Julio Vélez Sainz is a Profesor Titular in the Departamento de Filología II (Literatura española) at the Universidad Complutense, Madrid. He completed his Doctorado at the Universidad de Salamanca and a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. A specialist in medieval and early modern literatura and cultural studies, Prof. Vélez taught at the University of Massachusetts—Amherst before returning to Spain. He is the Director of the Madrid Theater Reseach Institute and publishes a blog on theater and philology for Huffington Post España.
