Nouvelles Pod Video - Interview with Joshua Jay

Acclaimed magician and OSU alum Joshua Jay will presented the annual Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies 2019 Barbara A. Hanawalt Public Lecture.  He discussed Reginald Scott's 16th-century The Discoverie of Witchcraft, a work widely considered to contain the first published accounts of illusion and stage magic.  In order to debunk contemporary belief in witchcraft, Scott demonstrates how supposedly magical acts were in fact staged performances.  Joshua sat down with us before his lecture to discuss his life in magic, his formative experiences at Ohio State, and his thoughts on The Discoverie of Witchcraft.
