Each year, the Center hosts eight lectures on cutting-edge research by visiting scholars, chosen by CMRS staff and faculty affiliates. Speakers represent the broadest range of academic fields, topics, and historical periods. The annual series includes a Public Lecture that is specifically aimed towards a general audience; the Francis Lee Utley lecture, in collaboration between with the Center for Folklore Studies, combining expertise in folklore and medieval literature; and the MRGSA lecture, sponsored by the Medieval and Renaissance Graduate Student Association, featuring a speaker whose work is of particular interest to the graduate student population.
