The annual film series is back! This year, we're focusing on magic and witchcraft to align with our CMRS undergraduate GE course of the same name (MedRen2666). Join us on the fourth Thursday of the month* in 180 Hagerty Hall to see a classic film about various portrayals of witches and witchcraft in history, followed by a brief talk and Q+A. Pizza and refreshments will be served. These screenings are free and are open to all.
This month will feature The Name of the Rose, a 1986 historical mystery film directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, based on the 1980 novel of the same name by Umberto Eco. It stars Sean Connery, Christian Slater and F. Murray Abraham. Summary: A 14th century Franciscan monk William of Baskerville and his young novice arrive at a conference to find that several monks have been murdered under mysterious circumstances. To solve the crimes, William must rise up against the Church's authority and fight the shadowy conspiracy of monastery monks using only his intelligence, which is considerable. Find the film on IMDB.
Upcoming films:
9/26 - Witchfinder General (1968)
