The Medieval Latin Reading Group will meet on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 pm, starting Wednesday, September 16.

In previous semesters, the Latin readings about food and science have proven very popular, so we’ll revive that topic this semester, and we will work through various Latin readings on medieval and Renaissance food, cooking, and agriculture. I’ll typically send these out to this e-mail list once a week, a couple of days in advance of our Wednesday meeting.
The Medieval Latin Reading Group is a low-pressure, no-judgment gathering. Those who attend are not expected to be there every week, or to prepare in advance, or to have an advanced reading knowledge of Latin, or even to participate in the translation. Some people hang out and listen and learn, while others translate a bunch and ask a lot of interesting questions! It’s fun and friendly. So if you are new or if you have only attended once or twice, just know that you’re very welcome, no matter what your level of Latin experience might be.
