The Medieval Latin reading group will meet on Wednesdays from 3 - 4 pm, during the Autumn 2023 semester, beginning August 30 through the week of November 29th, with a break Thanksgiving week. All meetings are via Zoom.

Participants in the Medieval Latin reading group are not required to prepare the readings ahead of time, and no one should feel obligated to participate aloud, if you're more comfortable listening. We are happy to accommodate participants with all levels of Latin expertise, including those who have never tried Latin or who have forgotten everything they once knew.

Professor Drew Jones will host the reading group meetings this semester. Dr. Jones specializes in early medieval Latin and Old English, particularly in liturgy and monastic culture. The semester will begin with Professor William Turpin's (draft) student edition of Peter Abelard's Historia calamitatum, which is attached as a PDF below.

If you would like to receive the Zoom meeting link and be added to the mailing list for future links and readings, please contact Professor Drew Jones at jones.1849@osu.edu
